Marshall House – VELFAC V200
Designed by Paul Cashin Architects, Marshall House VELFAC V200 is an extension to a Grade II listed dwelling in the village of Twyford, Hampshire. The original house dates back to the 17th Century.
The extension is accessed via a small link that provides a clear distinction between the old and new structures. The link aims to have the effect of walking through a portal into a seemingly different dwelling, that is modern, bright, light and airy with clean lines and white walls. Marshall House – VELFAC V200 windows and doors have been specified to achieve this. These have been strategically placed in order to cast light over walls and corners. Creating little nooks and private views.
Externally, black painted larch cladding is used as the primary material. The external aluminium sashes are powder coated black to blend into the surrounding cladding. The black finish of the extension contrasts with the white painted brickwork at the rear and side of the original house.
The impact of unwanted solar gain has been actively mitigated by the specification of manually opening VELFAC units and a motorised VELUX flat rooflight which together maintain good air circulation.
