Bath Square – VELFAC V200
Situated in the heart of Old Portsmouth, Bath Square is an eighteenth-century property just moments from Portsmouth Harbour. As part of a major refurbishment, the project team removed the existing roof structure and replaced it with a timber-framed Mansard roof. This created additional accommodation and opened up views across the harbour and Solent.
The project presented several challenges, including restricted access, limited storage space and the complexities of extending a Grade II listed building. The design team carefully considered how the new structure could respect the character of the original property while creating a modern living environment.
Westcott Architectural Glazing supplied and installed bespoke VELFAC V200 composite windows and glazed French doors throughout the new extension. The team finished the units in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. They selected the outward-opening VELFAC windows to provide a contemporary look while complementing the historic character of the property. The slim frame profiles maximise natural daylight and help frame panoramic coastal views from the new living spaces.
The glazed French doors provide direct access to a new roof terrace. This creates a strong connection between the interior and exterior while making the most of the property’s elevated position overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
The new upper floor accommodates a master suite with an en-suite bathroom and bespoke storage crafted from reclaimed materials. The completed project combines historic character with modern glazing solutions. It transforms an underused roof space into a bright, practical and visually connected living environment.
Ideal Home magazine featured the project in its January 2016 issue. The project also received a Best of Houzz Award for Design, recognising the quality of the transformation and attention to detail throughout.

What Our Clients Say

The whole team were professional and polite. The window installation was done correctly in the time frame and price given. They knew exactly what they were doing. You can’t ask more than that.

This company contacted me two years after installing our windows to check whether we had any problems. I said they were fine except I had never been able to open one of the air vents. The next day, they happened to be working in the area and came round ready to replace the vent. In the event, that was not necessary and they applied silicon spray to all the vents to loosen them. They are now all open. This is exemplary customer service from a company that had originally installed them quickly and efficiently with little fuss.

A really great team for our windows! They were extremely helpful and guided us through the entire process. The administrative team was very communicative. The installation team was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. There were a few tricky bits during the installation – fortunately all of their installers are trained carpenters, so they know the structure and opening nuances to make sure they fit properly.
