Marine Court Extension – VELFAC V200
Creating a Modern Living Space
Just moments from the Southsea seafront, the Marine Court extension creates a bright and contemporary living space with a strong connection to the garden. From the start, the design focused on natural light and easy access to outdoor areas.
The original single-storey structure offered little practical use. It also failed to make the most of the site. To solve this, the project team removed the existing building and built a larger extension. The new layout provides an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area designed for modern family life.
Maximising Natural Light
Large-format VELFAC 200 composite windows and doors play a central role in the design. Their slim frames and large glazed areas maximise daylight throughout the extension. They also provide clear views of the garden and bring more light into the home.
The VELFAC 200 system complements the clean architectural lines of the extension. At the same time, it delivers excellent thermal performance and year-round comfort.
Connecting Indoors and Outdoors
A key feature of the project is the connection between the living space and the landscaped garden. Full-height glazed doors open directly onto a cedar-decked veranda. As a result, family members can move easily between indoors and outdoors.
This visual link makes the garden feel like part of the home. During the warmer months, the outdoor space becomes an extension of the main living area.
Built for Everyday Living
Builders used traditional brickwork to construct the extension. They also installed a durable glass reinforced plastic (GRP) roof system. Together, these materials provide a robust and low-maintenance solution.
Inside, bespoke joinery adds character and personality. The handcrafted kitchen features marble worktops and reclaimed scaffold board detailing. Engineered oak flooring and underfloor heating create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The completed extension is bright, practical and modern. Glazing shapes the character of the space and strengthens the connection to the garden. As a result, the property now offers a flexible living environment that works throughout the year.
