South Barn – VELFAC V200
Architect Je Ahn, co-founder of Studio Weave, transformed a historic barn near Cowes on the Isle of Wight into a light-filled, single-storey family home, with Westcott Architectural Glazing supplying and installing the VELFAC V200 windows and doors.
South Barn VELFAC V200 – The renovation retained the barn’s original character while introducing modern, minimalist elements. The northeast-facing elevation features expansive VELFAC glazing, bringing natural light deep into the open-plan living and dining areas. The slim, discreet profiles of the V200 system allow uninterrupted views while complementing the barn’s original lines.
Je approached the renovation with a “light touch” philosophy: preserving as much of the barn’s original materials and structure as possible. The result is a simple, uncluttered living space where natural materials — both old and new — are celebrated. Full-height VELFAC V200 sliding doors provide flexibility, smooth operation, and enhanced ventilation. This makes them ideal for large openings in modern living spaces.
VELFAC V200 frames combine clear – lacquered timber internally with anodised aluminium externally. Inside, the timber adds warmth and a tactile, natural feel, while the aluminium exterior ensures long-lasting protection against the elements. The combination delivers a premium finish, durability, and low maintenance, perfectly suited to both traditional and contemporary barns.
Each of the three bedrooms features VELFAC V200 sliding doors, allowing ample natural light to fill the space while maintaining clean, minimal lines. The slim profiles and high-performance glazing offer excellent thermal insulation and acoustic benefits, ensuring comfort throughout the year.
Westcott Architectural Glazing transformed South Barn’s entrance with a sleek VELFAC Ribo aluminium-timber door. Its sleek aluminium exterior and warm timber interior blend with the barn’s mix of old and new. Creating a welcoming threshold that feels both contemporary and timeless. Just as the VELFAC V200 windows flood the interior with light, the Ribo door contributes to a seamless connection between inside and outside. The product offers durability, energy efficiency, and refined craftsmanship in a single feature.
Even as the architect of his own renovation, Je relied on professional collaboration to achieve the project vision. Working with Westcott Architectural Glazing ensured the bespoke VELFAC installation was precise, combining functionality, durability, and style in every frame.

What Our Clients Say
See All TestimonialsMr Hewitt, United Kingdom
When ordering the windows, we made numerous changes along the way. They were very quick to update the order and help with questions along the way. Their installation team was good and were able to overcome a few quirks in our existing house. I was doing the following on decoration works after the windows were fitted. A couple of aspects made it difficult to finish up around the newly installed windows. Shims and metal plates were left in need of grinding back in order to get a plasterboard back up against the window internally. This was perhaps inevitable however, due to the old Victorian check reveals in the brickwork and some very out of square existing openings. On the whole we are very pleased.
