Fair Rising – VELFAC V200

Designed by architect Carl Leroy Smith, Fair Rising – VELFAC V200 makes the most of a beautiful location on the edge of the South Downs National Park.
The front elevation features full height glazed facades which rise into the distinctive double pitched roof. The windows bring maximum light – and beautiful views – into living and dining areas, and into first floor bedrooms which also feature VELFAC glazed sliding doors opening onto balconies. At the rear, an impressive, full-width bi-fold door links the kitchen to a courtyard paved with local stone, with an additional balcony above. Both internal timber and external aluminium frames have been painted black which gives greater emphasis to the internal frame while externally the black frame blends into the glass façade.
Given the generous use of glass the impact of unwanted solar gain has been actively mitigated by the specification of manually opening VELFAC units, motorised VELUX roof windows, and an MHVR system which together maintain good air circulation. The glazing is also set back 1200mm into the façade to gain extra shade from the extended timber-framed eaves and walls, and also from the first floor balconies.
Working with Composite Windows UK experts, thermal targets and building regulations were met with a combination of triple and double glazed units both of which are Secured by Design approved and offer excellent U-values. As a result, heating bills are low, despite the vaulted ceilings, and acoustic insulation is very impressive.

We had a leak from our VELFAC windows, so we got in touch with Composite Windows (Westcott) for a fix. The windows are over 12 years old, so not unexpected! It was a simple process and they attended site about 2 weeks from our first contact. Turns out the problem was not with the windows, but from the roof above. Jack was very Proffesional and really took his time looking at every possible other reason for the leak. To be fair he was right! What made the visit so impressive in my view was it would have been so easy to say “it’s not the window you need to call a roofer”. Jack did a repair job sealing up the possible problems on the roof and did a very nice job. Now that I know the job may not be a long term fix, but the very fact that he went out of his way to find a solution says a lot about him and the company. This was not a flying visit about 2 hours were spent finding and fixing the problem. Nice to find a company who cares and goes the extra mile. I may still have a leak at some points but at least they tried, that i fully respect and appreciate.

I contacted Composite Windows to explore getting a front door. I didn’t buy a door from this company in the end as they could supply one which met my requirements within the budget available. Despite this, my experience dealing with James Harman, the sales executive was always very positive. He was very professional, patient and diligent in trying to provide a door that met my requirements & as close to my budget as possible. He was also very good-humoured and well-meaning in his communications with me. Unfortunately, he could not supply and fit a door for me, but based on this experience I would recommend this company.

In late 2017 we moved into a new house with VELFAC windows and doors. 5 years later we were experiencing some issues with both windows and doors needing service/repair. The distributor appointed by VELFAC to carry out the adjustments was Wescott Construction. A price for the work was agreed and the 2 engineers thought they would have their work cut out to complete in the day. However they worked speedily and efficiently, explaining what they had done and advising me on future maintenance I could carry out. We were most impressed by their caring courteous approach [disability issues] We would not hesitate in recommending this Firm to others for their quality & reliability.
