Design Options
- We can make S-700 Pivot Door Series from a minimum of 1400mm to a maximum of 2000mm wide, and a maximum of 3000mm high. By special arrangement, we can manufacture Pivot doors up to 4000mm high.
- Our pivot threshold is virtually flush at floor level, so it is very important to consider your internal floor finishing material (marble, tile, carpet) before ordering your door. A hidden weatherbar drops down inside the door as it is closing but it is always best to have a non-permeable internal floor material behind a pivot.
- Spitfire S-700 Pivot Door Series can be dressed in exciting finishes, including Stainless Steel, Carbon-fibre effect, Aluminium, Wood effects, Corten or Laminated Glass.
- Double pivot doors are available, as are door and a half configurations, or doors with matching side frames or glazed side elements.
Spitfire pivots can be installed within a Spitfire aluminium curtain wall assembly or into brick, stone or steel.
The thermal performance of our pivot doors will vary slightly by finishing material, but they are always below 1.0 W/m2k, which is way below current Building Regulation requirements.

Door Accessories
To every Pivot Door, we fit a special recessed handle externally and a lever handle internally. To ensure your S-700 Pivot Door closes smoothly,we fit a soft-close door closer unobtrusively in the head of the sash.
We offer the option of including built-in LED lights within the external recessed handle or fitting a vertical line of small LED’s down the back of the door sash, only visible when the door is open.
Fingerprint readers offer a highly desirable upgrade; moreover, we allow you to enhance most Spitfire pivot doors by adding elegant Swarovski crystals. In addition, these features combine advanced technology with luxurious style, giving you both security and sophistication in one package.
Performance
Each Pivot door is slightly different depending on the material you choose, but in general our doors achieve:
- Class 3 Air Tightness
- Class 1A Water Tightness
- C5 Wind Load Resistance
- Soundproof to 34 decibels

How Pivot Doors Operate
The pivot uses a very simple mechanism, which means it will provide many years of trouble-free use since there is so little that can fail. Specifically, at both the top and bottom on the hinge side, an elongated pin is securely embedded in the sash. Then, this pin precisely slots into the outer frame, ensuring reliable and smooth operation every time.
The pivot point is approximately 450mm sash, depending on the overall size of the door itself. Surprisingly for in from the edge of the door such huge doors they are very light to operate, a child can easily open and close them and the concealed door closer will effectively ‘soft close’ the door.
A weatherbar will drop down under the door as the door closes, to form a seal with the threshold. Because the threshold features almost completely flush detailing, we recommend using a non-permeable floor covering inside the door when installing a pivot in exposed locations. This approach effectively manages potential water drops that may ingress, ensuring better protection and durability.

We have used Westcott over a ten year period for a new sea front build. The consistent quality of their service, the products they advise and then install has always been first class. This has always been delivered with a personalised approach to us and our needs from all their staff. Highly recommended.

I have had Velfac windows and external doors for 12 years. One window was not fitted properly by the developer (not Westcott) and had been leaking and needed replacing. The window was on a 4th floor flat and access difficult. Westcott were recommended by Dovista and Westcott worked timely from survey to order and then to sync with scaffolders dates to install. The guys had difficulty getting the frame up to 4th floor but they stripped it down and hoisted it up to the 4th floor. The job was professionally completed in a day. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend Westcott. Particular thanks to the boys who were all courteous and professional- Adam, Gavin, Matt and Andy. The office staff were always prompt with replies too. Thank you all.
