No.11 Bath Square fronts a quintessential cobbled street in Old Portsmouth, the original site of the City of Portsmouth. The property dates back to the eighteenth century and stands less than a stone’s throw from the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. Yet until the summer of 2014 no-one would be aware of the water-based activity going on just metres away.
This project was a loft conversion with a difference. The original pitched roof was removed and replaced with a timber framed Mansard Roof. French doors open onto a roof terrace which now offers perhaps some of the best coastal views across the whole of the South Coast of England.
Limited access, storage and working at height made this a truly complex project. Coupling a new extension to a Grade II listed building required only the finest carpentry and joinery skills. However, not only was an enviable view unlocked, but a Master Suite with en-suite bathroom was created. Reclaimed materials were used to create built-in storage.
We are delighted to have seen this property feature in the January 2016 issue of Ideal Home magazine and more recently Westcott Construction have been awarded the prestigious “Best of Houzz 2016” Award for Design on this loft conversion.
